About Us
The Power of Dance
Dance classes provide students not only a place to learn dance skills but also life skills. To be a successful dancer, a student learns to be diligent, focused, and team-oriented. These are skills that will help them succeed in whatever path they choose in life. Our studio is excited to help prepare youth for whatever their future goals may be and encourage them to have fun while doing it!
Abigail- Assistant Teacher
Meredith- Artistic Director and Founder
Meredith grew up dancing with a focus on the jazz and musical theater styles of dance. When she was younger, she studied privately with Adriana R of the Art of Motion and Faith H of Carthage College. In May 2019, Meredith graduated with a BA in Dance Performance, Choreography, and Theory from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In December 2021, she completed her Masters degree in Dance Education at the University of Northern Colorado. In the Master’s program, she studied dance pedagogy and developed, researched, and wrote a thesis on reflective teaching methods in the dance studio setting.
While Meredith was pursuing her BA and Masters degrees, she worked as a dance teacher in several local dance studios and interned at the Charlotte Ballet in the Education and Community Engagement department. Additionally, in the fall of 2017, Meredith organized a small non-profit dance group for children. This non-profit group has recently completed their fifth season. Meredith’s goal is to combine her love of dance, teaching, and children (and students of all ages) in the founding of her own dance studio, Meredith Lane Dancers.
Abigail began dance in Meredith’s non-profit dance program. She quickly showed herself capable of assisting in the dance classes, and Abigail’s teaching role has grown in the last three seasons. The thing she enjoys most about teaching is seeing the students dance and progress. Dance has taught her to keep practicing even if at the moment something seems hard or confusing. She is dedicated, hardworking and talented and has studied musical theater, jazz, ballet, and tap. Tap is her favorite!
